A Shoulder-to-Shoulder Approach

Not every man connects best by sitting face-to-face and talking directly about his feelings. Sometimes conversation comes more naturally while doing something together.

This group uses team-based gaming as a shared activity that makes connection feel less forced. Members play, check in, talk, and gradually get to know the same small group over time.

The goal is not to be the best player. The goal is to have a consistent place to connect.

Who This Group Is For

This group may be a good fit for men who:

  • Want more consistent connection with other men

  • Feel socially disconnected or isolated

  • Prefer connecting through shared activity

  • Enjoy gaming or are open to team-based games

  • Want a casual but purposeful space to talk and connect

  • Are looking for support, conversation, and consistency

You do not need to be a highly skilled gamer. Games will be selected based on group interests, platforms, accessibility, and the size of the group.

What Meetings Look Like

Each meeting includes a mix of casual check-in, team-based gaming, conversation, and peer support.

A typical group may include:

  • Brief check-in

  • Team-based or cooperative gameplay

  • Conversation and support

  • Light reflection around connection, teamwork, communication, or frustration

  • Closing and next steps

The group is designed to feel comfortable and engaging while still having a clear purpose.

More Than a Random Lobby

Many online gaming spaces are random, inconsistent, or hard to break into. This group is designed to be smaller, more consistent, and more intentional.

Members meet with the same small group over time, with facilitation to help keep the space welcoming, balanced, and purposeful.

Facilitated by Nick Morvan, LMFT

I work with men around stress, anger, relationships, disconnection, and feeling stuck. I created this group for men who may want more connection and support, but who may not feel drawn to traditional talk-based groups.

My role is to help keep the group welcoming, balanced, and purposeful while members build connection through shared activity and conversation.

Important Note

This is a psychoeducational support group, not psychotherapy. Participation does not establish a therapist-client relationship. The group does not provide diagnosis, mental-health treatment, crisis support, or trauma processing.

If you are currently in crisis or need individual mental-health treatment, this group is not a substitute for therapy or emergency support.
